Many years ago I dreamed of creating a farm in the city, because a true farm was out of my reach financially. After 14 years of renting I finally began the homestead adventure in 2013. I bought a house with history, dating back to 1890 and came with a little land, a quarter acre. Now going into my 5th year here, and my 4th year farming it I feel as though my goal is within reach. There’s still a lot of my property left to farm, there’s still more food to grow and there’s still more people to reach. My whole intention of being an urban farmer is to promote growing a large amount of food within the city. In the four years growing here I’ve produced 1750 lbs of food! For the second year I have an actual farmhand, I sell my goods year round at the South Bend Farmer’s Market, I teach classes regularly and I'm giving back to my community the best way I know how, with healthy food. Everyone that supports me means so much, I work hard to provide the best for you because I realize how important it is for you and your family. I do it because I love it and because I know it’s the right thing to do. When I learned how broken our food system is I wanted to be part of the solution, not the problem, so this is my dream, and I love sharing it with everyone!
